
Reduce your dimensions of your focus. ie give a f** about less. I’m slowing realising this mindset is super important if not critical to get to whether you want to get to in life. To reduce the dimensions at which you, one, operates at, is do better and more of what matters. I’m learning to reduce my dimensionality in all areans of my life. In data science, a dimension reductionality function is key part of creating an algorithm that outputs insight and without being lost in the noise of data. We need to actively apply the same principle to our life. When Mark Zuckerberg started Facebook in his CS50 lecture he said he was just wanted to be able to search someone online. In 2004 that wasn’t easy. He knew that and and so did many others. But he kept to the simplicity of the idea. Sergey Brin and Larry page wanted to be able to find whatever information they wanted online. In 1990s the was not entirely easy of effective. But it was such simple a need. So many of the best companies in the world fulfill a very simple, yet important need in our lives.
Reducing the dimensions of what we care about helps us to focus on the what is important, what is valuable. This is one the most important principles in my life. This doesn’t mean I ignore the detail, I just learn to hear the melody from the sound. Life more than ever is full of sound. To be able to hear the melody is the super power of anyone in modern society. So how does one reduce the dimensions of your life. I follow a few thoughts. To ignore more than I pay attention to. To engage in some form of meditative practice. To pray. To care about only a few things in any given situation. To actively slow down your thoughts and actions (practice of active mindfulness). No doubt there are likely other things but these are most effective for me. To reduce the dimensions of your life is to own greater power to dare to dream and further embrace the process.
This is somewhat about prioritisation, but more about having a shorter of list of things to need to prioritise in the first place. Shorter the things on that list. You will feel lighter, freer and more able to do more because of it. Reduce your dimensions. Give a F*** about less.
